Saturday night; not the typical time I go for bloody marys. Tequila; not the typical liquor I drink in my bloody marys. Meeting someone who I met on Instagram in person; not the typical way I meet people. However, when in Rome, (and by that I mean a coastal Mexican restaurant in Pacific Beach serving bloody Maria’s for $6, with an invite from San Diego Food Girl) one lives on the edge!

Read MoreThe Tower23 bloody mary had a stunning presentation; glistening in the sunbeams on the oceanfront patio, It was almost too pretty to drink! JRDN infuses their vodka with jalapeños and cilantro. I personally love cilantro, it gives meals and drinks such a refreshing and floral taste, in the best way possible. The mix is made in-house with a mild flavor but has that last second kick from the jalapeño infusion and spices. The jalapeños gave the bloody a perfect amount of heat, making it drinkable for lovers of all spice-levels.

Read MoreSugar, spice, and everything nice, is the best way to describe this bloody! Sweet and tangy and a little on the thick side. I've heard they put brown sugar in their bloodys, but I wasn't able to confirm. The spice was more peppery than horseradish and the tabasco flavor was prevalent. The skewer had some scrumptious treats. A lime pin wheel, bacon, pepperoncini, olive, celery and an old bay rim seasoning. I was very thankful for the waiter who went out of his way to bring me this bloody, that’s 5-star service! The icing on the cake this breakfast was the scenery, waterfalls and swans wading in a pond, with the palm trees and the ocean as a backdrop!
Read MoreIt was dreadfully hot and humid during our stay so after spending hours being tourists and walking for miles, we headed back to the Wicker Park area and decided to get some pizza and found Piece Pizzeria and Brewery.
