Just when I've thought there was no place better in the U.S. than San Diego.......Hawaii happened! We chose Hawaii for our honeymoon and let me say, I have never been more swept away by the beauty and wonder that is Hawaii! It's hands down one of the most beautiful places I've ever been! Freshly married the day before, my husband and I flew to the island of Maui to bask in our newlywed bliss! We stayed on the north-west side of the island at Ka'anapli beach at the Westin Maui.
Now I've travelled quite a bit, but I usually stay in Air BnBs or cheaper hotels, so this was by far the most baller hotel I've stayed at! The pools are surrounded by mountains, lush gardens, waterfalls, palm trees, water slides, and an array of wildlife. As if that wasn’t awesome enough, it’s right on the beach with the sweeping views of the islands of Molaki and Lanai. The water is so warm, the sand soft and the sunsets are truly breathtaking! Hawaii is paradise.
The Westin had the most outstanding breakfast buffet! A smorgasbord of anything you could want or imagine……. except, alcohol. Day one I settled for my coffee until the adult pool bar opened at 10am, but day two I was wishing for a bloody with my breakfast! My husband and I took the short walk along the beach, hand in hand, down to the Hyatt Regency. Can’t say their buffet is much different from the Westin’s in terms of options and price and not sure they really have bloodys available (when I asked the server he said yes but had that, oh shit, look on his face). However, almost 20 mins later a beautifully constructed bloody mary arrived at my table, and I was elated!
Sugar, spice, and everything nice, is the best way to describe this bloody! Sweet and tangy and a little on the thick side. I've heard they put brown sugar in their bloodys, but I wasn't able to confirm. The spice was more peppery than horseradish and the tabasco flavor was prevalent. The skewer had some scrumptious treats. A lime pin wheel, bacon, pepperoncini, olive, celery and an old bay rim seasoning. I was very thankful for the waiter who went out of his way to bring me this bloody, that’s 5-star service! The icing on the cake this breakfast was the scenery, waterfalls and swans wading in a pond, with the palm trees and the ocean as a backdrop!
I also had several bloodys (pictured above) from the Westin’s adult only pool bar. Your typical bottled mix and celery stalk, nothing to scream and shout about but it did the trick while roasting in the hot tub or laying in a beach cabana with my new husband. I highly recommend the Westin Maui. I’m not usually one for big chains like there’s but it was truly magical, relaxing, and romantic. Couldn’t ask for more for on your honeymoon. Counting down the days until I can get back to Hawaii again! Maybe our 5-year or 10-year anniversary! Aloha! Mahalo!
