To my excitement, Flap Your Jacks in North Park has now reopened in North Park. Opening a few months ago and then having to shut down due to coronavirus restrictions, Flap Your Jacks found a way to survive and is now open again to serve you some of the best, and most interactive pancakes in San Diego with a unique experience like no other.
Interactive you say?? Why yes! Flip Your Own pancakes at your table because every table has a griddle built into it where you griddle your own pancakes to your liking. A truly unique experience you won’t find anywhere else.
I don’t know what Flap Your Jacks puts in their batter but it makes the most fluffy, moist, and flavorful pancakes I might ever have had! There are a few steps to flipping your own pancakes….
Pick a batter: choose from several different pancake batters including buttermilk, Oreo, chocolate, or red velvet. My personal favorite is the peanut butter
Mix it: mix your batter with a whole slew of ingredients like banana slices, peanut butter chips, hazelnuts, strawberries, and the list goes on
Flip it: don’t forget, you’re cooking your own pancakes at your table. So while you might be Instagramming their fun and playful pancake decor, PAY ATTENTION and flap those jacks
Top it: Nutella, almond butter, whipped marscapone all just some of the luxe spreads you can top your pancakes with
Drench it: for those who really want to indulge, smother and drench your pancakes in Bailey’s Irish cream sauce, blueberry syrup, salted caramel maple syrup just to name a few

Best place for pancakes, but brunch isn’t too shabby either
I absolutely loved my peanut butter pancakes but I also needed to try some other brunch menu items as well. Flap Your Jacks brunch menu items are equally as delicious as their pancakes!
Rollover cinnamon lover with their signature Cinnamon Roll! Gigantic and beyond delish, Flap Your Jacks bakes each one to order so you always have a fresh and fluffy cinnamon roll!
I also tried, from their Whole Enchilada menu Molletes, which are toasted sourdough (I asked for different bread) with refried black beans, smothered in 5 melted cheeses with fresh tomato salsa and cilantro. All flavors I personally love, combined with this amazing verde sauce, you can add chicken, chorizo, avocado, or eggs to your Moelletes!
Amazing House Made Bloody Mary
With the sweet pancakes and cinnamon roll, you know I need to balance that out with a rich and savory bloody mary. I haven’t had many house-made bloody marys lately since I haven’t dined out much since COVID, so Flap Your Jacks bloody mary was a welcomed and wonderful addition to the yummy pancakes and brunch.
Flap Your Jacks makes their own bloody mary mix in house and it is fabulous! The perfect balance between savory, citrus, and salt, I drank it in just a few sips! The best part about Flap Your Jacks bloody mary is they have a whole bloody mary menu!
The SoCal Mary adds one of my favorite vodkas for bloody marys, Absolute Peppar, and paprika. A standard michelada. The Smoking Mary with mezcal, chipotle, smoked salt rim and double-smoked bacon. And finally, the Bloody Mary A La Jacks (need to try this one next time) with anejo tequila, buffalo sauce, and Original 40 pilsner!
Nothing makes me happier than a brunch spot that takes their bloody marys seriously, and Flap Your Jacks definitely does that with a unique menu of bloody marys and a fabulous house-made mix!
Offering To-Go
I know I’ve sold you on their unique in-house pancake experience, but if you’re like me and not necessarily dining out very often then I’ve got great news for you! You can still enjoy Flap Your Jacks entire pancake and brunch menu from the comfort of your own home……that’s what I did!
However, if you still want to dine in, the space is incredibly safe and clean. With high vaulted ceilings, a completely renovated space, sanitized at every table, and large glass partitions in between tables you can feel safe at Flap Your Jacks!
