Beach, Breeze, Bloodys. You could call it my mantra. Mix in a little bit of coconut, rum and island vibes and you have Miss B’s Coconut Club! A staple in the Mission Beach Community, Miss B’s is intertwined with the very history of how Mission Beach grew from a “tent city” to what it is today.

Miss B’s Coconut Club has a fun atmosphere that is shared with by locals and tourists alike. I recently brought my friend Amanda with me to Miss B’s who I hadn’t seen in a few years, and it was a great place to catch up! Being just a few hundred feet from the beach, Miss B’s is always hopping and the drinks are always flowing but still maintains a laidback atmosphere. While Miss B’s is well known for their rum drinks served inside rose gold flamingos or in a coconut, we were there for the bloody mary and brunch. Shocker, I know!

The bloody mary from Miss B’s has its own distinct flavor that is indicative of the island theme of the restaurant and is sultry and spicy, like Miss B herself. It was one of Amanda's first experiences having a bloody mary and she was surprised, in a good way, by the flavor. The from-scratch mix is seasoned with Miss B’s house-made jerk seasoning, giving the bloody a Caribbean/Jamaican vibe that’ll transport you to a tropical island somewhere. I love when your food can transcend beyond the plate.

The bloody mary mix is infused with Scotch bonnet; a Caribbean red pepper that is considered “very hot” on the Scoville scale. The spice is tamed by the savory and richness of the mix, so the heat isn’t overwhelming but will give you a subtle kick in the rear. The acidity of the fresh citrus balances this unique tasting bloody mary, and it finishes off with a dash of sweetness.

Of course being at Miss B’s we also had to order a rum cocktail! Amanda got the “We Don’t Practice Santeria” cocktail that was delicious and topped with a beautiful flower, I can see why the rum cocktails are so popular! The brunch food is no joke either! We got the chocolate chip pancakes and the breakfast sandwich. The pancakes were the most ridiculously huge stack of pancakes I’ve ever seen in my life, and the breakfast sandwich had a roasted garlic cilantro aioli. How did they know my fave flavors!?!? Brunch at Miss B’s is the place to be!
