What is brunch?

What a great question. Brunch is a word that comes from combining the BR from brunch and UNCH from lunch. Why, do you ask? Because brunch is just that, a combination between breakfast and lunch. Food you find on a breakfast or lunch menu will be found on a brunch menu! Thye might even combine the two with brunch burgers topped with over easy eggs!

After a night out, breakfast is too early and lunch is too late. A pile of French toast dripping in butter and syrup AND a juicy burger all sound like the perfect cure to your late night ailments. Brunch can also be elevated, that is more about the experience, get togethers, and the food, then about ailing hangovers. Brunch can happen at a restaurant, at home, or at an event like Mother’s Day or a bridal shower.

Brunch is a lifestyle! Sunday Funday is for those who love to gather with friends and family while daylight is abundant, pancakes are stacking, and drinks are flowing. Brunch is for those who don’t want their weekend fun to end. Where it’s never too early to drink a bloody mary or sip champagne, and no one will judge you for doing so.

Perhaps you’re like me and crowded nightclubs, staying out till 2 AM, and dealing with the world's worst hangover just doesn’t sound appealing anymore. But don’t get it twisted, we still like to have fun. We just like a little day party so we can be home by 3pm, prepare for our week like a boss, and in bed by 8 PM!

What is a verb?

A verb is “a word used to describe an action, state, or occurrence, and forming the main part of the predicate of a sentence, such as hear, become, happen.”

Is brunch a verb?

Some people may argue, no brunch is not a verb. However, the Brunchfaced community may beg to differ. That’s because every Sunday we like to get Brunchfaced; under the influence of brunch!

So let’s break it down. Going to brunch, getting Brunchfaced, both actions. Being Brunchfaced, a state, is it not? We went to brunch on Sunday, an occurrence? Looks like we have the answer to your Google search……

What kind of things do you do at brunch?

Drinking at Brunch

Drinking at brunch is an essential part of the brunch experience! My personal favorite brunch cocktail is the Bloody Mary. With all your essential nutrients and veggies to revive your ailing body, drinking bloody marys are good for you! Read my blog: A Bloody Mary A Day Keeps The Doctor Away to find out more!

If you’re not team Bloody Mary you're probably team mimosa! Make those bottomless mimosas but keep it classity (Classy but Litty)!

Drinking at brunch doesn’t always necessarily mean drinking alcohol. Fun and frothy lattes or a strong herbal or matcha tea can provide a boost of energy to power through your day! Some might even keep it clean and only be drinking water at brunch. I personally like my 3 hydration stations: coffee, bloody mary, and water.

Eating at Brunch

Well brunch just wouldn’t be brunch unless breakfast and/or lunch food was involved. Some may prefer to stay on a liquid diet, only drinking at brunch, but there’s no way I’m passing up a beautiful plate of chilaquiles or a decadent plate of french toast! Eating around a table is what brings people together. It starts conversations and it fills your bellies and your soul. Eating is a can’t do without, verb, at brunch.

Brunch places can serve up traditional diner like plates such as eggs, toast, and bacon or even a turkey club. Sometimes simple is just what you need at brunch and if you’re serving brunch at home, it will be the easiest to make for even a novice host/cook. Others decide to push the envelope and make brunch a luxurious or decadent affair. Dishes like country fried tri tip made with the famous Cardiff Crack or a luxe lobster Benedict.

Gathering & Laughing at Brunch

Brunch is the perfect excuse to gather with your friends or family. Laughing with your friends, sharing and reliving stories from your previous nights escapades. Or like me catching up with a mom friend who also only goes out during the day and laughing over the struggles and joys of motherhood.

Brunch is an integral meal for gathering and laughing with family. Celebrating a special occasion such as Mothers Day, a graduation, a new business venture, or a bridal shower over brunch will create lasting memories of joy and laughter. Nothing says I love and support you like some hot cakes and vodka in the morning!
