Have you ever been to the Top of the Hyatt at the Grand Manchester Hyatt in San Diego? A breathtaking 180-degree view of San Diego where you can see for miles. Well, it certainly is popular but their friends back down on earth at Sally’s Fish House and Bar have something to say about being the cool kid on the block!
Sally’s might only have ground level views but they are just as exceptional; looking out into blue skies of the harbor and Seaport Village. Walking up to Sally’s you can’t miss the sea of teal umbrellas and couches on their fabulous outdoor patio; very inviting and sea-inspired. I always say, “sea life’s beauty,” so we grabbed a table with a view of the water under our shaded teal umbrella.
Naturally, a fish restaurant by the sea has amazing food options but the showstopper from Sally’s “Insta-worthy” cocktails is the Ultimate Bloody Mary! Insta-worthy barely does this bloody mary justice. I was in complete awe of the spectacle that arrived at my table. The Ultimate Bloody Mary was over the top but not in a greasy, sugary, all-out bad for you kinda way but in a healthy, seafood lovers dream kind of way! Sally’s Fish House and Bar uses a house-made mix that has the perfect blend of flavors, heat, and depth. The horseradish nibbles at your nose and there is a hint of hot pepper that livens the mix. Garlic and salt fuse well with the acidity and sweet tangy flavor of the Worcestershire sauce. The best part is the refreshing aftertaste of the Prairie Cucumber Organic Vodka, perfect for a summers day by the sea!
The finale of The Ultimate Bloody Mary and what makes it so social media sexy is the garnish! A crispy piece of bacon and some traditional olives are just the first course of this meal. For the second course the most exquisite piece of blackened shrimp. Hands-down one of the best pieces of shrimp I’ve had! For the final course of the meal, The Ultimate Bloody Mary is topped with a giant crab leg! Not just any crab leg, a meaty foot long king crab leg!
Sally’s Fish House and Bar is a must for tourists and locals alike. There are amazing food options (try the ahi salad or sandwich or some fresh sushi), gorgeous views of the harbor, and an “Insta-worthy” bloody mary that’ll knock your socks off!
