Can the bloody mary charcuterie board be vegetarian?
My bloody mary charcuterie board is pretty much a meatless board besides the bacon adn shrimp because I don’t personally eat a ton of meat. If you want to add meats, typical meats you find on charcuterie boards like salami, pepperoni, and prosciutto are also popular bloody mary garnishes, so they will definitely be on-brand for this charcuterie board.
My Bloody Mary Cocktail Sauce recipe is not vegetarian but you can find a vegan cocktail sauce online or you can simply leave out the Worcestershire sauce.
Tips for preparation
Cocktail Sauce: One day ahead of time make the Bloody Mary Cocktail Sauce. Homemade bloody mary mix always taste better a day or two later, the same way a homemade sauce or soup does! If you can’t make it a day ahead of time, that’s totally okay, you can make it the day of! Store it in the refrigerator overnight.
Bacon: Like the cocktail sauce you can cook the bacon a day ahead and then store in the refrigerator. It will get more sturdy and easy to chop the next day. Plus its one less thing you need to do the next day! Once the bacon is cooked put on a plate with a paper towel to drain as much of the grease off as possible. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator overnight.
Shrimp: I highly recommend using jumbo shrimp for this recipe. When you think of garnishing a bloody mary, you want to have a nice jumbo shrimp on your glass and not a tiny little sad shrimp.
Make sure shrimp is thawed and chilled if previously frozen.
Cutting: When prepping the deconstructed bloody mary charcuterie board it is my recommendation that you cut up all the ingredients ahead of time and place them into ramekins or dishes. That way when you’re ready to assemble the board, you have everything ready to go and also a lot of the juices have drained out, so your board doesn’t become too messy.
Board: I learned the hard way for a board like this with ingredients that are a little juicy not to use a flat board. It will be best to use a board that has some heightened edges. If you only have a flat board you can just make sure you so a really great job of draining the pickles, olives, banana pepper rings and pepperoncinis.
Provide garnish skewers on the side if you wish to use the boards ingredients to serve as garnish for your bloody marys! This way bloody mary and non-bloody mary drinkers can enjoy the board all together in their own way!
How do I make the deconstructed bloody mary?
The first step will be to make the Bloody Mary Cocktail Sauce 24 hours in advance so it has time to develop a really great flavor. Cover the cocktail sauce and store it in the refrigerator. While you’re making the cocktail sauce, cook the bacon either in the oven or frying pan. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator overnight.
The next day, remove the bacon from the refrigerator at the beginning of your prep. Cut up the bacon into 1/4 inch cubes. Thaw and chill shrimp if frozen.
Remove the desired amount of pickles, banana pepper rings, olives, and pepperoncinis from the jar, pat them down, then place into separate ramekins. Cut up the pickles, you can leave the olives, banana rings, and pepperoncinis whole.
Cut up the cheddar cheese into 1/4 inch cubes place into a ramekin. Rinse off the lemons and cut into wedges. Rinse the cherry tomatoes and place into a ramekin. Put the 2 types of crackers into separate ramekins as well.
Now that you have completed the prep and have everything in ramekins you are ready to assemble the board. Start by places this brie cheese triangle and the bloody mary cocktail sauce that is in a ramekin on a board. These are the two most sturdy elements, so they should be first.
Continue to build you board by placing all the remaining ingredients on the board, place the lemon wedges by the cocktail sauce and rim the ramekin with your jumbo shrimp.

Yes you can store and save many of the elements on the deconstructed bloody mary charcuterie board.
