Why have regular cocktail sauce when you can have bloody mary cocktail sauce? Bloody mary cocktail sauce is not only delicious and an upgraded version of regular cocktail sauce, but can be used in many different ways and recipes. Move over ketchup, bloody mary mix is stealing your thunder!

What is bloody mary cocktail sauce?

Bloody mary cocktail sauce is a fun play on the traditional cocktail sauce. This tangy and zesty sauce uses tomato juice instead of ketchup and has all the seasonings and ingredients you’d find in a traditional bloody mary like hot sauce, horseradish, and Worcestershire sauce.

Taking it up a notch, I’ve added vodka for a spiked and boozy sauce. However, you can leave out the vodka if you have any sober or under 21 people enjoying the cocktail sauce.

Bloody Mary Cocktail Sauce is typically used as a dip for seafood like shrimp or a topping on oysters! I used this bloody mary cocktail sauce as the perfect anchor on my deconstructed bloody mary charcuterie board because we can’t just have “regular”

What base should I use for the cocktail sauce?

For the bloody mary cocktail sauce I recommend using tomato juice. I would go with a thicker tomato juice like Campbells because you want a thicker consistency for dipping. If it is too thin then it won’t work great as a dip or topping. Campbells is thicker than a V8 or organic store brand.

Fresh or prepared horseradish?

Although I typically always say fresh when available, for this recipe I suggest using prepared horseradish. This will also lend to the thickness of the sauce and add a bit of creaminess, like traditional cocktail sauce.

Is the bloody mary cocktail sauce vegan?

For this particular recipe the answer in no. However, there’s a simple fix and that is leaving out the Worcestershire sauce. You can make or purchase your own vegan Worcestershire sauce or simply leave it out. Soy sauce and A1 sauce are good substitutes but they will slightly alter the flavor profile of the sauce, so use it sparingly.

How do you make the bloody mary cocktail sauce?

The bloody mary cocktail sauce is insanely easy to make! Great when your in a pinch and want to show off your culinary skills to your guests without having to do much!

In a large mixing glass add the tomato juice. Use a jigger to measure out the vodka and pour into the tomato juice. Add all the other ingredients to the glass and stir until evenly mixed.

You can adjust the ingredients based on personal preference or thickness that is desired.

You can store the bloody mary cocktail sauce in the refrigerator up to 4 days after initial use.
