Much more than a distillery, Storyhouse Spirits in the East Village is the perfect place to get brunchfaced pre-Padres games on these beautiful summer days in San Diego! Why spend $10 on messy cheese and greasy chips at the ballpark when you can sit at a table with friends and family and enjoy wood-fired brunch fare before the game? It’s really a no-brainer!

Storyhouse’s innovative and hearty dishes are “sourced locally and prepared fresh daily- there is no fryer or microwave on sight nor will there ever be,” and it shows! Wood-fired cooking always enhances the flavor of any dish, especially pizza. Storyhouse’s executive chef, Nick Pauleiro utilizes the tools on site to create some beautiful dishes.

I went out of my comfort zone (because nothing fun ever happens in our comfort zone) and started off with the duck hash. I haven’t really ate duck before so I was nervous! Once I got over the mental block and had a few bites, I couldn’t stop eating it! The duck hash is creamy and scrumptious and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it!

If you’re not feeling as adventurous like me, the breakfast pizza is a perfect option! Full of smoky flavor, crunchy toppings, and eggs cooked just right, in combination with the sauce, the breakfast pizza makes a delectable brunch snack. Also try the bread pudding, you will not regret it! Made with house-made ice cream a top a crispy layer of warm and savory goodness, every bite will melt in your mouth. Even though sharing is caring, you won’t want to share with anyone else. #brunchfaced

Storyhouse’s cocktails are bright and refreshing, that balance well with the hearty dishes. Sip on a classic bloody mary that they spruce up a bit with some spice and acid, or one of their many crafted cocktails while enjoying a grand and gorgeous open-aired distillery. My personal favorite is the gin smash; “a refreshing mixture of Botanical Gin muddled with fresh mint, simple syrup & lemon juice, topped with sparkling water…so up my alley! I got to preview some of their vodka thats coming out really soon and all I can say is WOW! It’s something really different and special! Stay tuned!

Make sure you stop by Storyhouse Spirits for brunch before the Padres game! Delicious food and hand-crafted spirits, like I said, it’s a no-brainer!

On a completely different note, Storyhouse Spirits believes in connections and bringing people together to create moments and memories. Come to find out, after speaking with co-founder Steve Kuftinec, we grew up just two towns away from each other in Massachusetts, but both have left and made several homes in several different cities in the US, finally landing in San Diego! I just think that’s so awesome that somehow, in that moment our stories crossed paths! #weareallstorytellers
