Brunchfaced: Holiday Reprieve Brunch Guide

In the midst of all the holiday weekends we finally have a reprieve. It may be a slower weekend, but that doesn’t mean we won’t be getting brunchfaced! Here’s my top picks for this weekend.

Storyhouse Spirits - East Village

Newly opened for brunch, Storyhouse Spirits in the East Village, is the perfect place to get brunchfaced pre-Padres game. Fill up on innovative and hearty dishes such as the duck hash, breakfast flatbread and the most delectable bread pudding, that’ll melt in your mouth! Sip on a classic bloody mary or one of their many crafted cocktails while enjoying a grand and gorgeous open aired-space.

Red O - La Jolla

It’s going to potentially rain again on Sunday, so you’ll want to get brunchfaced somewhere where you’ll forget all about the rain. Don’t worry about parking, have the valet park it for you and step into an oasis of vaulted ceilings, oversized pottery and plants, lighted trees, lustrous chandeliers and meticulous tile work. Oh, and let’s not forget about the beyond delicious food! Try the yellowtail aguachile, power scramble, and the passion fruit butter cake and pair it with mix and match bottomless cocktails. You’ll be saying, “what rain?”

Luce Bar & Kitchen - Bay Park

One of the best kept secrets on where to get brunchfaced in San Diego is Luce Bar & Kitchen, in Bay Park. Luce was one of the first brunches I had when I began pursuing my bloody mary dreams. The bloody mary is made with house-infused horseradish vodka and rimmed with a delicious smoke salt, so good! For food, you can’t do Luce without a pizza and the breakfast pizza with eggs, bacon, spinach, mozzarella, and parmesan does not disappoint. I have had several since then and it’s still one of the best I’ve ever had. If pizza for breakfast isn’t your thing than go for the Luce Burger or the Carnitas Eggs Benedict.
