Everything is bigger in Texas; hair, bbq, the state fair, and quite literally, the state its self! I’m pleased to share that bloody marys are no exception to the rule!

As I mentioned in my previous post (Smoke), I was staying with my best friend and her family in Texas for a week as they prepared to move and her husband to deploy. Heidi lived in Keller, Texas, a suburb of Fort Worth, so I was ecstatic when I realized one of the craziest and best bloodys in the United States (according to Thrillist.com) was only about 1.6 miles from her house, in Watuga, Texas. What are the chances? Chef Point Cafe, a gas station turned fine dining establishment, which has been featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, is not your average fill-up station.

When I arrived, a hostess escorted me out back to the covered patio and I caught a glimpse of what I was there for! The "Bloody Best" bloody mary! I looked at the drooling dog next to me (patio is dog friendly) and I could totally understand the feeling. Without hesitation, I order the bloody best! Quite honestly, I didn't order anything else because it is a meal in its self, x2.

In the Midwest, the serve bloodys with a chaser, typically a pony or a shooter. Not Chef Point, they give you an entire 16oz draft (your choice from any of their domestic drafts, not limited to Miller or Coors, like other places). I went with the Deep Ellum, Dallas Blonde. The reasoning for the beer is you need something to hold you over while your best bloody is concocted! Twenty minutes later the bloody was delivered to my table and I was blown away. Finally, the bloody I have seen in numerous posts and shared on Pinterest thousands of times, was mine all mine!

The bloody best, bloody mary, is an array of delectable food items with their own unique flavor and creative menu names to Chef Point Cafe. First off, the mix is made in-house, is spicy and garlicky as heck and full of seasonings. Delicious and not conventional tasting in the slightest. It brings that fire, brought on by the Tabasco and Worcestershire, thank goodness for the beer chaser! The 16oz beer is accompanied by an additional 16oz of bloody mary and they don't go easy on the Tito's Vodka either, so get ready to get tipsy!

It was tough for me to finish it all, the struggle was real! The bloody is garnished with some traditional items such as garlic season rim, lemons, limes, olives, cheeses, bacon, pickles, celery, an entire green onion and okra. However, the show stoppers in this bloody are the full-sized grilled and seasoned shrimp, several waffle fries, an entire grilled jalapeño, a Nolan Ryan Slider (nice and juicy and mustard on the bun) and Chef Points famous, Better than Sex Fried Chicken (it was damn good but this is still up for debate). Wow, what a meal, I'm full just thinking about it!

If you are staying in Dallas or Fort Worth, it may be a bit of trek to get to this spot. However, this diamond in the rough is wellllll worth the drive! It is one of the top bloodys I've had. Everything is definitely bigger in Texas! Chef Point has indoor and outdoor dining, with a large grassy area in the back equipped with dog bags (not for food, but that other stuff) and bowls to fill water up for your pups! In San Diego people bring their dogs everywhere, including Target and the grocery store, not so much in Texas, so this was pleasing to see. Make sure if you’re travelling from the cities have a DD or take a ride share, safety first people!
