Gone Country!!! Last weekend I had the opportunity to dust off my cowgirl boots and check out Country Brunch Live at the House of Blues in downtown San Diego. I have been to House of Blues several times before but never to their restaurant, so I was excited to try it out. Country Brunch Live, the newest live music brunch to the House of Blues repertoire, is an addition to their very popular Gospel Brunch. If you haven’t been to Country Brunch Live yet, here are 3 reason why you should be getting BrunchFaced there this weekend!

Live Music

Well, duh. If you’re anything like me than music fuels your soul. So, when you add live music to brunch then you better believe I’m there! Country Brunch Live invites country artists from near and far to perform some country classics as well as current favorites while guests’ brunch. The day I was there, The Whiskey Ridge Band was performing and had my husband and I moving and grooving while we waited for our food. I was about one michelada or mimosa away from dancing but there were some people brave enough to stand up and scoot their boots, it was a great time!

Ice Cold Michelada and a Build Your Own Bloody Mary Bar

As much as I am obsessed with bloody marys, something about brunch and live country music, or maybe the fact I was wearing my cowgirl boots, or maybe that it was 90 degrees that day, an ice cold michelada was calling my name. Something about beer and country seemed like the right choice!

The michelada is excellent, mixed with Thorn Street Barrio Lager, Clamato, bloody mary mix, Chamoy and a chili salt rim (which if you saw my Instagram stories, you’d see I had all over my face lololol). The michelada goes down smooth, is sweet and savory with a little bit of fizz, making it the perfect brunch cocktail for hangovers, country music, and what felt like the hottest day of the year!

If you’re interested in the build your own bloody mary bar or mimosas, it’s really a steal! Only $15 for bottomless bloody marys or mimosas, which actually makes it more price savvy if you plan on having more than one brunch cocktail.

Scrumptious Brunch Fare

Last, but certainly not least, I want to let you know how delicious the food is for Country Brunch Live. House of Blues has southern favorites like Tennessee Toast, Country Fried Chicken & Biscuits and Pig Grits & Shrimp and some brunch staples such as a breakfast burrito and breakfast sandwich.

Although all of those options are incredibly tempting, when I see steak and eggs on a brunch menu, it is difficult for me to resist. I’m really glad I didn’t resist because the Steak and Eggs is bomb.com. Served in a cast iron skillet and cooked to perfection (I asked for medium) the dish comes with roasted cherry tomatoes and potatoes, so juicy and yum! My husband decided to go the healthy route (usually it’s the other way around) with the Arugula and Berries Salad, which he devoured in minutes.

If all that food isn’t enough to get your BrunchFaced then you can end your brunch on a high note with the Bourbon French Toast; white chocolate and bourbon bread pudding with blazed banana, salted caramel, maple syrup, whipped cream and orange zest…. it was heavenly! When the table next to us saw the dish and saw our reaction to the first bite, they immediately flagged down the server and ordered one…. true story!

Live music, ice cold micheladas, and scrumptious brunch fare, do you really have any excuse not to check out Country Brunch Live at House of Blues downtown San Diego?? Didn’t think so!
