Brunchfaced: MLK Weekend Brunch Guide

Did someone say 3 day weekend? Whoop whoop! Not one, not two, but three days to get brunchfaced; under the influence of brunch! From restaurant openings, to north county staples, to local neighborhood hangouts, there’s something for everyone! Here are my top picks on where to get brunchafced this MLK weekend!

 Farmer’s Table - Little Italy

The much-anticipated opening of Farmer’s Table in Little Italy is upon us this MLK weekend! “Adding to its existing two outposts in La Mesa and Bay Park, Farmer’s Table is bringing farm-fresh fare to Little Italy’s dining realm, nestled in the neighborhood’s bustling Piazza della Famiglia. Housed in a 7,000 square-foot space located along the scenic stretch, the new Farmer’s Table is the largest of all three, and is expected to become an inevitable dining staple for Little Italy’s foodies seeking innovative twists on time-tested favorites.”

If you’ve been following me then you know Farmer’s Table has the ultimate lineup of insanely topped bloody marys, including the Food Network featured Barnyard Mary, topped with an ENTIRE roasted chicken, that darn near broke the internet this summer! Behind the over-the-top bloody marys, delectable dishes such as tiramisu French toast, crab cake Benedict, or one of their wood-fired pizzas are just some of the locally-sourced dishes that’ll have Farmer’s Table as Little Italy’s go-to for daily brunch!

Hello Betty - Oceanside

Hello, sunshine!!! It’s been a while! Meet my friend Betty. Enjoy the sunshine and warmer temperatures this weekend at Hello Betty Fish House in Oceanside. This sea-inspired space just steps away from the Pacific Ocean and Oceanside Pier, boasts spectacular ocean views, patio dining and one of the best rooftops in the San Diego area with fresh Baja coastal eats.

Whether it’s brunch, lunch or dinner you can’t go wrong with any of Hello Betty’s widely regarded, incredibly fresh, fish tacos. Devour some of Betty’s Biscuits to get started and wash it down with one of their spicy bloody mary oyster shooters to enhance your mood. Hello Betty has one of my favorite bloody marys, “Every morsel has an umami flavor that is rich, deep and elevates the warmth of the tomato juice,” and a michelada mary that’ll have you brunchafced on this MLK weekend!

The Corner Draft House - Bankers Hill

Don’t you just love a great neighborhood bar? The Corner Draft House, situated on the corner of 5th and Laurel just around the corner from  historic Balboa Park, is a “down-to-earth space where you can enjoy a noteworthy American gastropub tailored for foodies, craft beer and cocktail enthusiasts.”  It’s the perfect spot to stop in after a long stroll around Balboa Park to refuel and reenergize!

The Corner Draft House brunch menu has more than enough options to please any palette. The gigantic stack that is chicken and waffles, hazelnut crusted French toast or the Drafthouse chilaquiles will satisfy your brunch cravings on MLK weekend. A homage to beer, Corner Darfthouse has 70 beers on tap and they are no slouch in the bloody mary department either! With a full bloody mary menu and a secret off-the-menu bloody mary, garnished with all the things, The Corner Drafthouse is a perfect local eatery to pull up a seat and get brunchfaced!

So there you have it! My top picks of where to get brunchfaced this MLK weekend! From Oceanside to Little Italy and in between, be sure to check these places out! I hope you enjoy your 3 day weekend!
