I know I brag all the time about how awesome San Diego is, but sorry, not sorry, I’m not going to stop! I mean the miles of beaches, amazing craft beer/breweries, acai bowls, positive vibes everywhere, and the best weather year-round! Not much to complain about here! So, when it’s 72 in February on a Saturday, you brunch and bloody on an outdoor patio.

I called up a fellow Bostonian and we headed to Davanti Enoteca, downtown San Diego in the Little Italy neighborhood. I love the way the city buzzes on the weekend in warm weather. I chose Davanti Enoteca because of their famous bloody mary bar. San Diego has some amazing bloody marys, but few build your own bloody mary bars, so I was eager to try them out.

Davanti Enoteca's bloody mary bar is fabulous! I found it to be, “classy” and “sophisticated”. Once your mason jar of vodka is delivered to your table you are free to descend upon the most elegantly decorated bloody mary bar I’ve ever seen. It reminded me of Joanna Gaines style; farm rustic! First, you fill your glass from one of the milk bottle pitchers, filled with their house bloody mary mix. The mix is pretty neutral tasting since you add all the goodies and flavorings afterward.

Next, a qualified assistant walks you through the bloody mary bar and builds it for you! Because one does not, “build your own”. You let your bloody mary assistant know how spicy you want it (there is a large array of hot sauces to choose from) on a scale of 1-10, she adds Worcestershire sauce and fresh lemon juice and then your journey begins. Courtney and I went in two different directions for our toppings. Courtney chose bacon, prosciutto wrapped asparagus, ham, and a few veggies. I went for a kosher salt rim, pepper, celery salt, chili powder, pickled carrots, cauliflower, and peppers.

I love all the olive choices so, I went with garlic stuffed and cheese stuffed olives. I added some more citrus with lemon, lime and orange wedges. House-made pickles and a pickled hard-boiled egg topped off my (bloody mary assistants) magnificent creation. The bloody mary bar has a very large selection of pickled veggies and house-made pickles themselves as well as the standard skewer treats. The best part of this upscale bloody mary bar is the price isn’t upscale. The bloody mary bar comes in under $10.00! The food is also great; I had Dana’s Omelet; tomatoes, avocado, feta cheese, spinach, onions, made with egg whites and Courtney got the beet salad! Very scrumptious and healthy indeed! Davanti has locations in Del Mar and Chicago, so if you’re in SD or Chi-town I recommend stopping in for their brunch and bloody mary bar!

We continued to drink our bloodys while discussing our entrepreneurial aspirations. Because doesn't it sounds fun to be your one boss and build your own empire? #bossbabes. Courtney runs her own Etsy shop with the cutest jewelry pieces! Check it out here: Pretty Little Prints . My personal favorites are the coffee and cheese necklaces!
